Dasāṁśa Defined

6b3z
The Dasāṁśa is the one-tenth division of a sign covering 3° of arc. Dasāṁśa is reckoned from the sign itself for odd signs and from the 9th therefrom for even signs. This has the approval of Parāśara, Satyācārya, Sārāvalī etc.

Examination of Dasāṁśa

1. The 10th house from Dasāṁśa Lagna or the Moon is the Kārya Rāśi. The 10th, the 2nd and 6th form the artha-trikoṇa (wealth trines). The 7th is the 10th from the 10th i.e. pada and planets in the 4th aspect the 10th house. Other rāśi and graha dṛṣṭi on the 10th house should also be examined. The 10th house from lagna, in rāśi chart, shows how you work while the tenth house in dasāṁśa shows the organization/company you work for. If Mercury associates with the 10th house of dasāṁśa, then this sign can indicate the name of the organization as well.

  • Mars and Ketu in the 10th house bring about destruction of the organization due to feuding although they promise rājayoga for the native and he gets the reputation of being the champion of the organization.
  • Sun indicates perfect leadership of the organization.
  • Venus gives excellent management skills
  • Moon shows caring, people-centric and social organization.
  • Jupiter shows superb financial management and great growth
  • Rāhu expands beyond all borders and takes the work all over the globe like a multinational organization.
  • Ketu is very good for mokṣa as it shows spirituality related work.
  • Saturn is a roller-coaster ride and the organization passes through many storms of life. Rudra is the storm god and can give strength to tide over these storms.

2. Exalted and debilitated planets give excellent financial prospects. In own sign, the finances are good while in friendly signs, middling. In inimical signs the finances may be adversely affected with a mere trickle of funds inspite of tremendous effort.

3. Financial relationships are different from natural relationships and should be considered for money matters in dasāṁśa chart.

  • Sun has Jupiter as its sole friend as none else can be fully trusted with the kings treasury, the others are enemies
  • Moon is friendly to the knowledge givers Jupiter and Mercury, rest are enemies
  • Mars adores the rajas planets Mercury and Venus and is inimical to others
  • Mercury is friendly to all except the Sun who takes away its wealth in taxes
  • Jupiter is friendly to all except Mars who rules debts and costly battles
  • Venus is friendly to all excepting the Sun and Moon to who it is inimical
  • Saturn is friendly to Jupiter and the rajas planets Mercury and Venus and inimical to the rest

Accordingly, for matters of money,

  • Sun is favorable in Sagittarius and Pisces;
  • Moon in the dual signs Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces;
  • Mars in Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra;
  • Mercury is all signs except Leo
  • Jupiter in all signs except Aries and Scorpio
  • Venus in all signs except in the north – Cancer and Leo
  • Saturn in dual signs and Taurus and Libra

4. Planets in the 10th give rājayoga
5. Planets in the 6th house indicate dāsatva (service).
6. The 8th house represents retirement, leave, inheritance, legacy etc.
7. The 3rd house indicates transfer within station or a nearby place.
8. The 12th house indicates transfer involving long journey.
9. Superiors are seen from the 9th house while subordinates from the 5th house.

10. Every activity or profession has a ruling planet (like the Sun for politics and the Moon for bureaucracy etc.) called Kāryeśa. The Kāryeśa must influence the house indicated at (i) above for professional determination. Secondly the Daśā or Bhukti planet must influence the Kāryeśa by Saṁbandha, Śubha argalā or obstruction of Papa argalā or the kāryeśa to prosper.

11. The Lagna or Chandra Lagna represents the ideals and belief and are the prime motivation in the Dasāṁśa for work. The exalted lagna lord (or exalted planets in lagna) indicates and idealistic person while a debilitated planet indicates otherwise. This is also modified b the nature of the planet, for even the lordship of the three worlds cannot satisfy an exalted Saturn.

12. Partnerships are examined from the 7th house in dasāṁśa.

  • Mercury, Jupiter and Venus indicate two-legged beings and if in 7th house, partnership is encouraged as very beneficial.
  • Sun, Mars and Saturn indicate four-legged creatures and if in 7th house indicate troubles in partnerships and business. Sun shows the native trying to boss over [partners leading to estrangement; Mars leads to court cases and battles for control; Saturn indicates service and native becomes servant of partner.
  • Moon and Rāhu indicate many-legged creatures and shows partnerships with multiple people, public offerings and stock markets. When we put many people in a room, it shows many legs!
